What is live poetry?

Live poetry is the result of improvisation meeting inspiration. You share a story, a memory, a feeling, and I write you a poem, on the spot, in real time.
My process is entirely analogue, using typewriter and pen and paper, and begun with your own words. We talk. You tell me what's on your mind: a person you love, a moment you can't forget, something you're celebrating or grieving or remembering. I listen. Then I write.
The poem is yours to keep: handwritten or typed, personalized, unrepeatable. Rather than rehearsed or polished or structured in any traditional, formal sense, this writing is alive, immediate, responsive. The result of presence and attention. A way of saying: your story matters, and here it is, reflected back in verse.
Live poetry turns an event into an experience. It slows time down, creates space for connection, reflection, and a little bit of magic.

a poetry and photograph collection
by Nora Jane Long
This self-created collection of thirty poems blurs the line between image and word. Drawing on the author’s background as a filmmaker and photographer, these pieces investigate the ways technology shapes our attention, our connection to nature, and our ability to truly see the most important details.
Through meticulous observation and vivid sensory detail, the collection invites readers to consider what it means to look closely.
